PART VILoad Line Surveys (continued)

Extension of Load Line Convention Certificates for Non-Canadian Ships

 A fee of $1,000 is payable for an inspection of a non-Canadian ship for the purpose of extending a Load Line Convention Certificate.

Authorization for Clearance

 A fee of $1,000 is payable for each visit made by an inspector where

  • (a) an inspection is required for the purpose of obtaining authorization for clearance for a non-Canadian ship to proceed on a voyage from any place in Canada;

  • (b) the inspection is not made pursuant to section 24, 25 or 26 for the purpose of issuing, renewing or extending a Load Line Certificate; and

  • (c) the inspection is not an inspection referred to in section 11 or 12 of the Marine Safety Fees Regulations.

PART VII

Non-Application

 Sections 28 to 30 of these Regulations do not apply in respect of any service for which a fee is payable under the Marine Safety Fees Regulations.

Out-of-Hours Duties

 The fee payable for each visit for the purpose of a survey or inspection of a ship by an inspector, or a service performed by an inspector, at the request of a shipyard operator, shipowner or ship operator, or authorized representative thereof, including the travelling time related to the visit, that is conducted during the hours set out in column I of an item of the table to this section is, in addition to any other fee payable, the greater of the fees set out in columns II and III of the item.

Standby Fee for Inspectors

 Where a shipyard operator, shipowner or ship operator, or an authorized representative thereof, requests that an inspector be on call or be made available, either continuously or during specified periods, to survey or inspect a ship or to perform a service, a standby fee of $500 is payable, in addition to all other fees payable, for each calendar day or portion thereof that the inspector is on call or made available.

PART VIIIPollution Prevention Fees

Oil Pollution Prevention

  •  (1) In addition to any other fees payable, the fee payable for the inspection of a ship, other than an oil tanker or a barge that carries oil in bulk, leading to the issuance of an International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate, a Canadian Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate or a Certificate of Compliance (Oil), for a ship of the gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of the table to this subsection, is the applicable fee set out in column II, III or IV of the item.

  • (2) In addition to any other fees payable, the fee payable for the inspection of an oil tanker or a barge that carries oil in bulk under Annex I of the Pollution Convention, leading to the issuance of an International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate, a Canadian Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate or a Certificate of Compliance (Oil), for a ship having the gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of the table to this subsection, is the applicable fee set out in column II, III or IV of the item.

Examination of Plans and Technical Documents

  •  (1) The fee payable for the examination of a first submission of a plan or technical document for any class of ship, which plan or document is set out in column I of an item of the table to this section, is the fee set out in column II of the item.

  • (2) The fee payable for the examination of a second and each subsequent submission of a plan or technical document set out in column I of an item of the table to this section, is one half of the fee set out in column II of the item.

  • (3) Where an existing ship is modified and the modifications constitute a major conversion as defined in Annex I, chapter I, Regulation 1(8), of the Pollution Convention, the fee payable for the first or a subsequent submission of a plan or technical document is the fee referred to in subsection (1) or (2), as applicable.

  • (4) Where more than four copies of a plan or technical document set out in column I of an item of the table to this section are submitted for examination, the fee payable for each additional copy is one quarter of the fee set out in column II of the item.
