Order Extending the Right To Be Given Access to Personal Information under Subsection 12(1) of the Privacy Act

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, is pleased hereby, pursuant to subsection 12(3) of the Privacy ActFootnote *, to make the annexed Order extending the right to be given access to personal information under subsection 12(1) of the Privacy Act.

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Privacy Act Extension Order No. 1.

General

 The right to be given access to personal information under subsection 12(1) of the Privacy Act is extended to include an inmate, as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, who is not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, as defined in subsection 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
