Order Transferring to the Secretary of State of Canada Certain Powers, Duties and Functions of the Ministers of Employment and Immigration, the Solicitor General of Canada and Multiculturalism and Citizenship Relating to Immigration and Citizenship and to the Department of the Secretary of State of Canada the Control and Supervision of Certain Portions of the Public Service Relating Thereto

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to paragraph 2(a) of the Public Service Rearrangement and Transfer of Duties Act, is pleased hereby

  • (a) to transfer to the Secretary of State of Canada

    • (i) the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Employment and Immigration referred to in paragraphs (a) and (b) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1134 of June 1, 1993Footnote *,

    • (ii) the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Employment and Immigration referred to in subparagraphs (a)(i) and (ii) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1669 of August 13, 1993Footnote **,

    • (iii) the powers, duties and functions of the Solicitor General of Canada relating to immigration referred to in paragraph (a) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1669 of August 13, 1993Footnote **, and

    • (iv) all the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Multiculturalism and Citizenship relating to citizenship under any Act of Parliament, other than powers, duties or functions relating to voluntary action and human rights; and

  • (b) to transfer to the Department of the Secretary of State of Canada the control and supervision of

    • (i) the Immigration and Overseas Health Services Division of the Canada Employment and Immigration Commission referred to in Order in Council P.C. 1993-1135 of June 1, 1993Footnote ***,

    • (ii) the Settlement Branch of the Department of Employment and Immigration,

    • (iii) that portion of Immigration in the Department of the Solicitor General referred to in paragraph (a) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1485 of June 25, 1993Footnote ****,

    • (iv) those portions of the Department of the Solicitor General referred to in subparagraphs (b)(i) to (v) of Order in Council P.C. 1993-1669 of August 13, 1993Footnote **,

    • (v) that portion of the Canada Employment and Immigration Commission relating to immigration settlement and the matters referred to in section 119 of the Immigration Act,

    • (vi) those portions of the Canada Employment and Immigration Commission relating to the development of policy in respect of the matters referred to in subsections 6(1), (3), (5) and (8) and sections 7 and 108 of the Immigration Act, and

    • (vii) that portion of the Department of Multiculturalism and Citizenship relating to citizenship, other than the portions thereof relating to voluntary action and human rights.
