TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come or whom the same may in any way concern,
GREETING:
A Proclamation
Whereas on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization characterized the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic as a global pandemic;
Whereas Canadians have united courageously to take common action against the pandemic;
Whereas Canadians recognize and deeply appreciate the strength and dedication demonstrated by health care and other essential workers who are working tirelessly on the front lines;
Whereas, in an effort to keep their families, friends and neighbours healthy, Canadians have had to make immeasurable sacrifices in how they live and work, Canadian businesses have endured significant strain and young Canadians have persevered through unprecedented disruptions in their education and development;
Whereas it is important that Canadians have an opportunity to honour the memory of those tragically lost to COVID-19;
Whereas it is crucial for Canadians to continue to show support for those who have been affected by COVID-19, and it is vital for individuals, families, friends and communities to maintain our shared resolve to end the COVID-19 pandemic;
And whereas, by Order in Council P.C. 2021-127 of March 8, 2021, the Administrator of the Government of Canada in Council directed that a proclamation be issued declaring March 11, 2021 as a “National Day of Observance”;
Now Know You that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our Proclamation declare March 11, 2021 as a “National Day of Observance”.
Of all which Our loving subjects and all others whom these presents may concern are required to take notice and to govern themselves accordingly.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, We have caused this Our Proclamation to be published and the Great Seal of Canada to be affixed to it.
WITNESS:
Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Richard Wagner, Administrator of the Government of Canada.
AT OTTAWA, this tenth day of March in the year of Our Lord two thousand and twenty-one and in the seventieth year of Our Reign.
BY COMMAND,
