Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to subsection 23(2)Footnote a of the Financial Administration Act, hereby makes the annexed Nova Scotia Public Service Long Term Disability Plan Trust Fund Remission Order.

Remission

 Subject to section 2, remission is hereby granted of one half of the tax that was paid or became payable under Part IX of the Excise Tax Act by the Nova Scotia Public Service Long Term Disability Plan Trust Fund (the “Fund”) during the period beginning on July 21, 1993 and ending on March 26, 1998.

Conditions

 The remission is granted on condition that the Fund make an application for the remission in writing to the Minister of National Revenue no later than December 31, 2000 and that the tax has not otherwise been rebated, refunded or remitted.
