AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS MARKETING ACT
Regulations Respecting the Information Required from Persons Engaged in the Marketing in Interprovincial and Export Trade of Hogs Produced in Saskatchewan
Short Title
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Saskatchewan Hog Information (Interprovincial and Export) Regulations.
Interpretation
2 In these Regulations,
- Act
Act means The Natural Products Marketing Act, 1972 of Saskatchewan; (Loi)
- assembly yard
assembly yard means premises to which producers may deliver their hogs; (parc de groupage)
- assembly yard operator
assembly yard operator means the owner or the operator of an assembly yard; (exploitant d’un parc de groupage)
- Commission
Commission means the Saskatchewan Hog Marketing Commission established pursuant to the Act and the Plan; (Commission)
- hog
hog means any member of the species Sus Scrofa L. (domestic pig) produced in Saskatchewan; (porc)
- Plan
Plan means the Saskatchewan Hog Marketing Plan established and amended from time to time pursuant to the Act; (Plan)
- processor
processor means any person engaged in the business of processing hogs or using hogs in manufacturing; (transformateur)
- producer
producer means
(a) any person engaged in producing or feeding hogs and making them available for slaughter and includes the employer of any such person,
(b) any person who, under any lease or agreement, is entitled to a share of the hogs produced or fed by a person referred to in paragraph (a), and
(c) any person who takes possession of any hogs from any person under any form of security for a debt; (producteur)
- small processor
small processor means a processor who, in the previous calendar year, processed less than two per cent of all hogs slaughtered in Saskatchewan according to the reports published by the Department of Agriculture of Canada. (petit transformateur)
Application
3 These Regulations apply only to the marketing of hogs in interprovincial and export trade and to persons and property situated in the Province of Saskatchewan.
Books and Records
4 Every person engaged in the marketing of hogs shall
(a) keep complete and accurate books and records of all matters relating to such marketing and retain those books and records for at least three years;
(b) upon request of any member or authorized representative of the Commission, produce the books and records referred to in paragraph (a).

Inspection
5 (1) Any member or authorized representative of the Commission may, at any reasonable time, inspect any place or premises used for the marketing of hogs.
(2) Every person in possession or control of any place or premises referred to in subsection (1) shall
(a) permit any member or authorized representative of the Commission to inspect such place or premises; and
(b) furnish any member or authorized representative of the Commission with such information in respect of the marketing of hogs as he may reasonably require.
Weekly Statements
6 (1) Every small processor shall submit to the Commission a weekly statement indicating
(a) the name, address and farm registration number of every producer from whom it purchased hogs;
(b) the name, address and farm registration number, where applicable, of every producer or consumer on behalf of whom it custom processed a hog;
(c) the quantity, variety, grade, class or size of hogs so purchased or processed; and
(d) the price paid for such hogs.
(2) Every operator of an assembly yard who holds auctions of sows shall submit to the Commission a weekly statement indicating the number of sows sold at each auction.
