Proclamation Designating Certain Countries as Designated States (C.R.C., c. 1596)

Know You that We, and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our Proclamation

• (a) designate the countries listed hereinafter as designated states for the purposes of the Visiting Forces Act:

  • Barbados
  • Brunei
  • Cameroon
  • Commonwealth of Australia
  • Dominion of New Zealand
  • Ethiopia
  • Federal Republic of Germany
  • France
  • Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  • Guyana
  • Iceland
  • Italy
  • Jamaica
  • Japan
  • Kingdom of Belgium
  • Kingdom of Denmark
  • Kingdom of Greece
  • Kingdom of the Netherlands
  • Kingdom of Norway
  • Malawi
  • Malaysia
  • Niger
  • Nigeria
  • Portugal
  • Republic of Ghana
  • Republic of Kenya
  • Republic of Korea
  • Republic of Singapore
  • Republic of Turkey
  • Republic of Uganda
  • Republic of Venezuela
  • Republic of Zambia
  • Swaziland
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
  • United Republic of Tanzania
  • United States of America;

• (b) declare that the Visiting Forces Act is applicable

  • (i) in whole to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,

  • (ii) with the exception of Parts III and V thereof, to the Commonwealth of Australia and the Dominion of New Zealand, and

  • (iii) with the exception of Part VI thereof, to all the other designated states; and

• (c) designate as a civilian component of a visiting force from one of the countries listed hereinafter the civilian personnel accompanying that visiting force who are in the employ of that force and who are not

  • (i) stateless persons,

  • (ii) nationals of any state that is not a designated state, or

  • (iii) citizens of or ordinarily resident in Canada:

    • Federal Republic of Germany

    • Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
    • Iceland
    • Italy
    • Kingdom of Belgium
    • Kingdom of Denmark
    • Kingdom of Greece

    • Kingdom of Norway
    • Portugal
    • Republic of Turkey
    • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
    • United States of America.
