Manitoba Chicken Order
C.R.C., c. 152
AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS MARKETING ACT
Order Granting Authority to Regulate the Marketing in Interprovincial and Export Trade of Chickens Produced in Manitoba
Short Title
1 This Order may be cited as the Manitoba Chicken Order.
Interpretation
2 In this Order,
- Act
Act means The Natural Products Marketing Act of Manitoba; (Loi)
- chicken
chicken means a chicken of any variety, grade or class that is not more than five months of age, that is raised or kept within the Province of Manitoba and is not raised for egg production and includes a broiler, fryer and roasting chicken; (poulet)
- Commodity Board
Commodity Board means The Manitoba Chicken Broiler Producers’ Marketing Board established pursuant to the Act; (Office de commercialisation)
- Plan
Plan means any plan for the marketing of chickens, established and amended from time to time, pursuant to the Act. (Plan)

Interprovincial and Export Trade
3 The Commodity Board is authorized to regulate the marketing of chickens in interprovincial and export trade and for such purposes may, by order, with respect to persons and property situated within the Province of Manitoba, exercise all or any powers exercisable by it in relation to the marketing of chickens locally within that Province under the Act and Plan, other than those powers that are exercised by the Canadian Chicken Marketing Agency pursuant to the Farm Products Marketing Agencies Act.

Levies
4 The Commodity Board is authorized,
(a) [Revoked, SOR/80-90]
(b) in relation to the powers granted to it under section 3 with respect to the marketing of chickens in interprovincial and export trade,
to make orders fixing, imposing and collecting levies or charges from persons situated within the Province of Manitoba engaged in the production or marketing of chickens and for such purpose, classifying such persons into groups and fixing the levies or charges payable by the members of the different groups in different amounts, to use such levies or charges for its purposes, including the creation of reserves, and the payment of expenses and losses resulting from the sale or disposal of chickens, and the equalization or adjustment among producers of chickens of moneys realized from the sale thereof during such period or periods of time as the Commodity Board may determine.
