His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to section 8Footnote a of the Contraventions ActFootnote b, hereby makes the annexed Contraventions Regulations, effective August 1, 1996.

Designation

 An offence under a provision of an enactment set out in column I of the Schedules is designated as a contravention for the purposes of the Contraventions Act.

Short-Form Description

 The short-form descriptions of offences under a provision set out in column I of an item of the Schedules are the descriptions set out in column II of that item.

Fine

 For the purposes of proceedings in respect of a contravention the short-form description of which is set out in column II of an item of the Schedules that are commenced by means of a ticket, the amount of the fine that may be imposed in respect of that contravention is the applicable amount set out in column III of that item.
