23 (1) Where a person who fails to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the date, time and place appointed for that purpose fails, within 60 days after that date, to satisfy the citizenship judge or foreign service officer before whom the person was to appear, or the Minister where the person was to appear before a Minister of the Crown, that the person was prevented from appearing by some good and sufficient cause, the person’s certificate of citizenship shall be returned to the Registrar.
(2) Where a person described in subsection (1) satisfies the citizenship judge or foreign service officer before whom the person was to appear, or the Minister where the person was to appear before a Minister of the Crown, of the matter referred to in that subsection, another date, time and place shall be appointed by the citizenship judge, foreign service officer or the Registrar for the person to appear and take the oath of citizenship.
