His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Treasury Board, pursuant to section 10.1* of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Act**, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations prescribing the travel documents for which fees are payable and the amount of those fees, with a view to the recovery of costs of providing consular services. *S.C. 1995, c. 17, s. 43**S.C. 1995, c. 5, s. 2Short Title

1These Regulations may be cited as the Consular Services Fees Regulations.

Interpretation

2In these Regulations,travel document means any of the following documents that are issued by the Minister for travel purposes:(a)a passport issued pursuant to the Canadian Passport Order;(b)a certificate of identity; and(c)refugee travel papers. (document de voyage)

Fee

3A travel document is subject to the payment of the fee set out in section 4.

4The fee for a travel document that is issued to a person of at least 16 years of age is $25 and shall be paid when the application for the document is made.SOR/2001-536, s. 1; SOR/2010-271, s. 1

2Section 4 of the Regulations, as it read immediately before the coming into force of these Regulations, continues to apply in respect of an application to a passport issuing office for a travel document that is(a)made in person before that coming into force; or(b)sent by mail or courier(i)before that coming into force, or(ii)within five days after that coming into force if the application is accompanied by the fee referred to in that section.
