1The following definitions apply in these Regulations.Act means the Sex Offender Information Registration Act. (Loi)BCSOIRC means the British Columbia Sex Offender Information Registration Centre administered by RCMP “E” Division. (BIRDSCB)RCMP means the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. (GRC)

Notification by Telephone

2A sex offender whose main residence is located in the Province of British Columbia may report under any of paragraphs 4.1(1)(a) to (b.2) or section 4.3 of the Act or provide any notification required under section 6 of the Act by telephone to the BCSOIRC.SOR/2019-238, s. 1

Persons Authorized to Collect Information

3The following persons are authorized in the Province of British Columbia to collect information for the purposes of the Act:(a)a member or reservist of the RCMP;(b)a “provincial constable”, “municipal constable” or “designated constable”, within the meaning of section 1 of the Police Act, chapter 367 of the Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1996, as amended from time to time; and(c)a “special municipal constable”, within the meaning of section 1 of the Police Act, chapter 367 of the Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1996, as amended from time to time, who has previously been a member of the RCMP or a constable referred to in paragraph (b).SOR/2019-238, s. 2

Persons Authorized to Register Information

4A person employed at a registration centre whose duties include the registration of information are authorized in the Province of British Columbia to register information for the purposes of the Act.

Registration Centres

5(1)The places set out in the schedule are designated as registration centres in the Province of British Columbia.(2)The designated area of service of each registration centre is the entire Province of British Columbia.SOR/2010-17, s. 1

Coming into Force

*6These Regulations come into force on the later of the day on which the Sex Offender Information Registration Act, chapter 10 of the Statutes of Canada, 2004, comes into force and the day on which these Regulations are registered.*[Note: Regulations in force December 21, 2004.]
