APPROPRIATION ACT NO. 4, 1973APPROPRIATION ACTSRabies Indemnification RegulationsREGULATIONS RESPECTING THE REIMBURSEMENT OF PROVINCES FOR MONEYS PAID TO OWNERS OF ANIMALS DYING AS A RESULT OF RABIESShort TitleThese Regulations may be cited as the Rabies Indemnification Regulations.InterpretationIn these Regulations, "Minister" means the Minister of Agriculture.GeneralSubject to sections 4 and 5, the Minister may reimburse any province 2/5 of the amount paid by the province to owners of animals that have died as a result of rabies.The maximum amount per animal that the Minister may pay under these Regulations isfor cattle, $400;for horses, 200;for sheep, 80;for swine, 80; andfor goats, 80. SOR/81-136, s. 1No payment shall be made by the Minister under section 3 in respect of any animal unless the Minister has first received a certificate signed by a veterinary inspector under the Animal Disease and Protection Act certifying that the animal died as a result of rabies.
