B-9.01Broadcasting ActSOR/95-503199510242013012820051012BROADCASTING ACTOrder Directing the CRTC to Issue a Notice to all Television Networks throughout Canada to Broadcast a Special Message from the Prime MinisterP.C.1995-176119951024Whereas the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (hereinafter referred to as "the Commission") is responsible for regulating and supervising all aspects of the Canadian Broadcasting system with a view to implementing the broadcasting policy for Canada set out in the Broadcasting Act;Whereas subsection 26(2) of the Broadcasting Act provides that the Governor in Council may direct the Commission to issue a notice to licensees throughout Canada or throughout any area of Canada requiring the licensees to broadcast any program deemed to be of urgent importance to Canadians;Whereas subsection 26(2) of the Broadcasting Act requires licensees to whom a notice is addressed to comply with the notice;And Whereas the Governor in Council has determined that it would be appropriate to request the Commission to issue such notice;Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, pursuant to subsection 26(2) of the Broadcasting Act, hereby directs the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to issue a notice to all television networks throughout Canada to broadcast on Wednesday, the 25th day of October, 1995, from 7 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time a special message of urgent importance to Canadians from the Prime Minister of Canada.
